Ferry: island of Koön to island of Marstrand

The ferry from the island of Koön to the island of Marstrands departs every 15 minutes and takes only 4-5 minutes. Buy tickets from the kiosk by the ferry stop, or use a Västtrafik public transport card. Please note! If arriving by bus, your ticket includes the ferry crossing to the island of Marstrand so there is no need to buy a ferry ticket if travelling by bus. Once you have arrived on the island of Marstrand, turn left and walk about 200 metres along the quay.

BY BUS

You can reach Marstrand by bus. The timetable is available through Västtrafik's travel planner. The bus stops at the Marstrandferry stop where you can catch the ferry across. Please note! If arriving by bus, your ticket includes the ferry crossing to the island of Marstrand so there is no need to buy a ferry ticket if travelling by bus.

By car

From Gothenburg: head north along the E6 motorway towards Oslo. At Kungälv (approx. 20 km) turn onto road 168 (towards Marstrand) and keep driving (approx. 25 km) to Marstrand-Koön.

There are no cars on the island of Marstrand, so if you arrive by car, you need to park on the island of Koön. At the entrance of Marstrand-Koön, signposts show the way to several car parks. During the off-season,  most parking spots are free - see signs or read more at Kungälv municipality's website.

By Boat

There is a guest harbour on the island of Marstrand. Marstrand's harbour office (hamnkontor) and its jetties are located on the south-eastern part of the island, offering up to 88 moorings that can be booked here.

ACCESSIBILITY

Strandverket strives towards being accessible to all visitors. Currently, the ground floor is wheelchair accessible. If you want to prepare your visit, please go to T-D (the accessibility database) for in-depth information.

DISABILITY PARKING

As Marstrand is a car-free island, special regulations apply.
